Dunmore coats, metallizes, laminates, and finishes flexible substrates to create functional, high-performance materials. These include films, papers, nonwovens, and engineered composites that impart specific properties to surfaces, such as barrier properties, insulation, reflectivity, printability, scratch resistance, or UV protection.

Rooted in Freiburg. Grown alongside the industry.
The Freiburg site has a history that dates back well before Dunmore. What began as a paper mill in the 16th century is now a European center of excellence for high-performance materials. Every step of this evolution has shaped the expertise that our customers benefit from today.
16th century
It began as a paper mill in Oberau, Freiburg. It is the city’s oldest industrial company.
1844
Acquired by Ferdinand Flinsch. Start of industrial paper finishing.
1973
Relocation to the Freiburg-Haid industrial park. Expansion as a paper finishing company.
Mid-1970s
Acquisition by Armin Renker.
1990
Merger with the Swiss company SIHL AG to form one of Europe's leading paper manufacturers and finishers.
2004
Management buyout (MBO) from SIHL Holding. Dunmore Corporation acquires a 54% stake.
2012
Commissioning of the new BM3 coating line, with a processing width of up to 2.5 m, driven by strong growth in the solar business.
2015
Dunmore Corporation is acquiring 100% of the shares.
2018
Acquisition of Dunmore by Steel Partners Holdings.
2020
Commissioning of the new MT2 metallizing machine for metallizing up to 2.5 m in width.
